Off to Vaison-la-Romaine

Checked out of the hotel around 10:30 and headed back to the TGV station to get picked up to get our car.  Turned out that the car pickup loaction was just a few blocks from our hotel but we had no way to know that - oh well.  Signed the paperwork, filled the car with diesel, fired up the GPS and headed to Chateauneuf-du-Pape.

Missed a few turns along the way and the GPS had some unique routes but we got to Chateauneuf-du-Pape quickly.  Spent a little time walking around and had lunch (grilled jambon and pomme frite).  Started to rain so we hoped for a break in the weather and headed to a few of the smaller towns and villages on the way to Vaison-la-Romaine.  One of the most impressive was Seguret which is built right into the side of a hill.  Too much rain to stop and visit but did get a picture - we will go back when the weather clears.

Arrived in Vaison a little early so went to the local wine "cave" to taste and buy a few wines.  Got checked in to our lovely B&B and got settled in.  We met a couple from Ottawa who told us about a choir concert at the local church at 9PM.  So we went to the "Super U" (kinda like a Walmart or Fred Meyer) and picked up a prepared meal.

The choir concert was quite nice.  The choir was about 30 people in their 20's with an equal number in each section.  All acapella and mostly in French.  The director was very animated and the choir was very good.  The last two songs they sang were in English (something we could recognize).

Not sure what tomorrow will bring - we heard the forecast is for more rain.
