Monte-Carlo

This morning we took the train to Monaco and Monte-Carlo (cheaper than driving and paying for parking and a whole lot easier).  The train station is underground and just a short walk (uphill of course) to the palace.  The changing of the guard occurs everyday at 11:55 so we waited around for that.

Monte-Carlo is a very beautiful and well cared for city.  Everything is very clean, no graffiti and the gardens are beautiful.  We walked from the palace, through the gardens, by the cathedral and aquarium and then down to the harbor.

Apparently the yacht show just wrapped up (darn) so they were taking down all of the tents.

This yacht (the Lionheart) is owned by the guy who started easyJet.  Another very large one (with it's own helipad) named the Lady Moura was there as well - owned by some rich Arab.

Walked up again towards the casino - along the way we were on the Grand Prix of Monaco route (where they come out of the tunnel).

The area around the casino was beautiful - more gardens close by.  Found my new car there (to go with the yacht we picked out).

All-in-all the trip was a great experience and we are glad we went there.  Came back to Antibes and checked e-mail and Facebook.  We learned that my Uncle Vic had passed away a few days earlier - he was 93 years old and lived a great life.  He died peacefully and very unexpected.  We toasted him at dinner and will attend a memorial next month.

Not sure what tomorrow will bring - either Cannes or Nice.  We will decide in the morning.

And in case you are wondering we are together on this trip (thanks to the nice couple in Monte-Carlo for the pic).
