Got up early this morning to Skype some friends back in the states and get an early start to go back to the market in Vaison-la-Romaine. Hilda (our GPS "person") likes to send you on back roads but we "over-rode" her several times so she had to "recalculate". Spent several hours at the market looking for just the right items and we were pretty successful.
For the return trip we let Hilda guide us and we definitely took the small back roads (barely wide enough for two cars) - can be really fun when a truck or a bad driver is coming the opposite direction. Stopped at the Super-U trying to find a small cooler but no luck. Did some wine tasting near Bonnieux then came back to the apartment for some serious pool time. Decided to eat in tonight and get caught up on the blog.
Expecting another hike tomorrow but hopefully a lot easier than #20 and no falls. The village of Lacoste is just across a small valley from here and there is a way to walk there through the vineyards.
Some general observations - most of the french people we have talked to have been very friendly and helpful and accomodating of our poor communication skills. However there is something to be said for some of the french drivers. It is quite clear that speed limits are just suggestions and passing near corners is good sport. We have pulled off the road several times to let a faster car go by. The police presence is minimal and we have not seen any accidents. However you see a lot of cars with body damage.
Sorry - no picture today. And Charlotte is healing up nicely.
